There is a wonderful land, far in the east. It has been a wealthy, fertile ground with streams of life, manifested through distinctive shades of literature, arts, music, cuisine, festival, attire, sports, and more. It is difficult, if not impossible, to quantify this richness. And we proudly call it our emotional identity. Back in the northwestern part of the United States, it has its own uniqueness and diversity. Can’t we contrast this with the glimpses of our heritage, from that far away land? “দিবে আর নিবে মিলাবে মিলিবে” in the spirit of all-embracing universality. Or could it be a little outlandish? Who cares, we chose to name this feeling of togetherness as ভিনদেশি (Bhindeshi).
